The Best Advice a Parent Can Receive
The Best Advice a Parent Can Receive
Sometimes when people find out what I do (coach parents) they ask me for advice. Here's what I tell them:
Throw out your parenting books. Listen to your heart. Be gentle with yourself, you're doing a great job.
That last one is key.
I find that parents are their own worst critics. They judge themselves so harshly and set completely unreasonable expectations for themselves. This doesn't help anyone.
So if you are a parent, and you're looking for advice, here's the only advice that really matters:
Take exceptional care of you and love yourself exactly as you are.
You're doing a great job.
With love,
Helen
