Connected Parents
Here's a secret I've discovered that works so well for me that I've changed my life with it. "The best way to connect with another person is to breathe and move with them." Simple eh? Most people think that the way to connect with their spouse, loved one, partner is by sitting down and 'talking'. In my experience, talking is mostly an intellectual activity while breathing and moving provide an instant path to open-hearted connection. Since you might be like many parents of young children who aren't getting lots of time to talk, this could be your relationship saver! I've found that if I breathe with my partner, (while hugging, or sitting together on the couch, or snuggled in bed) for a 5-10 minutes a day that our relationship thrives. We laugh more, play more, and stress less. Five to ten minutes -- surely you can find that in your day? Go ahead. You can match your partners breath, or simple observe it and observe your own with no judgement. Nothing to fix, say, do, or change. Just be together. Breathe in, breathe out. That easy. Let me know how it goes!
