I spend my days discovering ways to keep my mind and body feeling great all the time, and helping others to do the same. What you eat, what you do, and who you do it with are the things that ultimately determine how you feel. I’m in the business of being with people as they imagine, design, create, and sustain their ideal relationships in each of these areas.
I’m also in the process of finishing my first book, which I hope will inspire people to change the way they view the entire process of buying, preparing, cooking, and eating food, and create a whole new group of home cooks who relish the act of owning their creativity in the kitchen.
I really enjoy putting my thoughts into words for people to chew on as they continue their journey. I regularly post my thoughts on enlivening cooking, eating, and living practices in the following ways:

What vision do you have for your life and your coaching practice?
My vision for my life is one of me spending all my time doing the things I love with the people I care most about, and loving and being loved more deeply each day.
For my coaching practice, my vision involves being of great service to people who are interested in going all the way with life, and who want to design and create their ideal relationships between their food, their bodies, and themselves.
What are the top three things you love about coaching?
Being able to be there when people all of a sudden realize the connection between what they’re eating, what they’re doing in life, and how they’re feeling in their body on a day to day basis.
The feeling of knowing that I’m doing something that is resulting in the lives of other people being better off and happier.
Getting to share everything I’ve learned about weight loss, cooking, eating, and living in a way that feels fun for me. There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing with my time.
Before I started coaching I …
Played poker professionally until about three years ago. It feels strange to think about that now, but it was my life for a long time. I’m really appreciating the difference I feel now in being able to help people live their lives to the fullest, compared to the feeling of showing up to work each day in the hopes of taking from others. Poker is a zero sum game, but life isn’t.
What makes you laugh?
Just about anything can make me laugh. I often find myself being the only one laughing loudly when nobody else seems to be. I think people are just naturally hilarious, whether they’re trying to be or not. I especially love ongoing jokes over long periods of time shared amongst old friends.
The legacy I want to leave behind is …
That I inspired people to cook more often and take great care of themselves, and that people’s lives were better after having been in my presence.
Who are your top three people you would want to coach and why?
With the future of organic, sustainable food at a crossroads, the president is the most important person in deciding which way this goes. We could easily have access to nothing but genetically modified foods in twenty years if a few things go wrong, and I would love to have a discussion with him around what he stands for in terms of what our future food supply will look like.
Michelle Obama has done a tremendous amount of work to bring the idea of taking personal responsibility for one’s health into the mainstream, and I would love to discuss with her what I perceive to be the missing ingredient in creating effective, lasting change in personal healthcare. That would be the connection between our emotions and our eating habits, and the ways that we can increase our awareness in order to sustain a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
Roger Federer: He’s the greatest tennis player in the history of the world, and also one of my favorite people. To me the best example I’ve seen of the intersection between genius, authenticity, and dedication to one’s craft. Being able to watch him play the past ten years has been like being able to witness Beethoven composing or Monet painting, there just will never be another person who does it the way he does. Seeing someone who so clearly appreciates what he has and loves what he’s doing in life is incredibly inspiring. I’d love to be given the chance to help him finish his career in style, and then be there as he discovers what’s next.
What were the greatest benefits you received from studying at the Hendricks Institute?
Learning to feel my feelings all the way through. Becoming aware of the effect that my showing up has in the world around me. The incredible network of close friends I’ve built that stretches all around the world. Learning to love all of myself, and appreciating everything that’s happened in my life because it’s gotten me to where I am now.
The movie that inspired me most was__. Why? The book?
The book that has influenced me most is Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. I love the way it embodies the flow of life both in its storytelling along with the way the words are written. I really resonate with the way all aspects of being human are portrayed, and love how easy it is for me to identify with Siddhartha’s many stations in life as the story glides along.
I don’t have any movies that have impacted me as much as Siddhartha has, but I really enjoyed the idea of being able to create one’s own reality in Inception, and the power of the human spirit that comes from Shawshank Redemption.
What brings you the most joy in your day to day life?
The feeling that comes with doing things that are in my genius – things that I love for their own sake, and I’m naturally great at. I also feel a great deal of joy when I connect with others deeply, when we all feel comfortable showing up fully just as we are. Also the simple act of sharing food I’ve cooked with people I care about. I find the connections created over a home cooked meal to be far more substantial and memorable when compared to meeting up in a restaurant.

The feeling of laughter, and the sound and sight of it in others

The feeling I get from opening the fridge and having no idea what I’m going to be making, and then having that meal turn out to be fantastic twenty minutes later.
