I love when I hear, feel, see the response from someone who has been heard. Their struggle ceases, they relax into ease and they feel flow in their body. My sense is that most of the stickiest conflicts in the world would easily move towards resolution if the people who are on either side chose to listen fully and deeply, both to themselves and others. I have chosen to make resonant listening a priority and welcome anyone who is looking for a container where their whole being can communicate and be heard.

The first time I heard Katie talk about “Ease and Flow” was in 2001 and I felt a full resonance at my core. My clients and friends tell me that I generate ease and flow by simply being present to them. I am happy to shine my full attention on you as you make the experience of ease and flow a priority in your life.

What vision do you have for your life and your coaching practice?

I see an ever widening ripple of people who have experienced the benefits of listening consciously and compassionately until we have a world of people who feel heard.

What are the top three things you love about coaching?

First I love being of service. Second, I love when I am so present that the “obvious” appears to me and I am able to communicate that so the client sees it also. And finally, I love that I don’t have to be a content expert, simply a great listener and accurate mirror and create a context for easeful learning.

Before I started coaching I …

I lived in the world of sales quotas, marketing strategies and business management. I found I was not effective managing people, only supporting them in making a decision that benefited them and the company. One CEO valued that approach so much he paid for coaching training.

What makes you laugh?

Hearing the truth spoken or acted out in surprising ways, children expressing in direct and creative ways and so many other things.

The legacy I want to leave behind is this:

I am drawn to any insight on effective, compassionate and conscious listening. I plan to leave behind my unique distillation of the best insights on how to listen so every communication lands with love and connection. And a new appreciation for listening that inspires people to transform how they listen.

Who are your top three people you would want to coach and why?

Teachers and anyone working with children: I know in my heart the pain of not being heard and I know the joy and relief and exhilaration of being truly heard. Many teachers repeat the listening patterns they learned when they were young which are run by filters and their own pain. I would love to catalyze a deep respect and playful attentiveness to all forms of communication from and with children.

Parents and Grandparents: All of the above plus there are unique and soul healing opportunities when we really hear our children.

Negotiators: I would love to attract those people involved in creating agreements as I believe resonant listening would allow for a quantum positive leap in all facets of our business and political life.

What were the greatest benefits you received from studying at the Hendricks Institute?

There is a very long list. I most love how everything I learned pointed me back to me. Some of the greatest are returning to my body (after years of living a small distance away from it), the power of commitment to make substantial change easy and completely re-defining success to align with authenticity. And I love how simple appreciation creates a deep connection, a flow of love and happy feet dancing (the feeling I have when I am at my best).

The movie that inspired me most was_______.Why? The Book?

The movie that inspired me most was Tender Mercies. This is for me the ultimate story of loving yourself no matter what you did or didn’t do in the past. And especially how easy it can be to transform even life long patterns when you commit to a new loving path. And how life delivers what you want and need when you commit. And all in a movie with no car chases, shoot outs or other adrenalin producing gimmicks.

The book? That has to be Conscious Loving. When I was at my lowest emotional and spiritual point (after the end of my second marriage), I found this book and read it in an entirely new way. I stopped after reading each section and tried it on in my life. My first big shift was to accept full responsibility for what I had created and that launched me into a whole new life. And from the suggestion in the book to get clear on what I really want, I co-created the totally awesome relationship I am in now.

What brings you the most joy in your day to day life?

My relationships:
with my wife (who is my learning partner, co-creator and sensual coach) starting almost every day with an extended time of blissful connection,
with our 4 grown daughters and 2 grandchildren whom I love, playing and having fun.
and with myself when I make it my priority to do all my daily practices. And the sensuous sights, sounds and feel of the world we live in.

What ten things could you not do without?

  1. Lingering, sensuous sexual connection with my wife
  2. Giving and receiving melting hugs
  3. Listening to my sounds and music
  4. My inspired food creations
  5. Regular face to face Hendricks events
  6. Playtime with the children in my life
  7. The warmth of the sun on my skin
  8. Savouring time outdoors
  9. Being in and near water –rivers, lakes, oceans, showers
