A $6000 Manifestation Story
While Kathlyn was teaching one of our advanced seminars last weekend, I was on my way to San Francisco to do a booksigning at Book Passage for my new book (www.hendricks.com/bigleap), as well as appear on a TV show and give a talk at California Institute For Integral Studies.
I went to the airport Friday, but when I pulled into the short term parking lot, where I always leave my car even if I'm going to be gone for several days at a time, they told me they no longer allowed cars to park there overnight, due to some new regulation. This was news to me, because I'd just parked my car there overnight the week before. They also said the long-term lot was full, and gave me a map to a new auxiliary parking lot on the other side of town from the airport. By the time I'd found the lot, waited for the bus, etc, about a half hour had gone by. When I got through security I was informed that the flight had closed two minutes before. I lobbied them to do me a favor (I could see that the passenger stairway was still up against the airplane) but they said no. They offered to put me on the 4:15 flight, which would arrive at 5:35. My bookstore appearance was in Marin County, so when I contemplated the possibility of getting across the Golden Gate Bridge by 7 pm on a Friday afternoon, I came up with an estimate of "unlikely." My choices seemed limited, either to cancel the bookstore appearance or be very late to the appearance (if I got there at all.) I took the 4:15 ticket anyway and went outside to think it over.
On a whim, I went into the charter office nearby and asked if they had any good way to get me to SF that afternoon. Yes, they said, and offered a jet that would get me there in a little under an hour, or a King Air prop that would get me there in an hour and ten minutes. The jet was $8800 and the King $6000. There was an eco-factor that weighed on me, too: the King uses half the fuel of a jet. It didn't seem like a good idea to burn twice as much fuel and spend an extra few grand just to save ten minutes or so. I chose the King, and made a quiet request of the universe to reimburse me if it saw fit, for my extra effort to keep my agreement with the bookstore.
All went well: I got to the bookstore appearance on time, did my tv show Saturday morning, made my speech on Saturday night, and flew back home on the King uneventfully.
When I got back into my house, I looked through my stack of mail and saw a big envelope from our literary agent, Bonnie Solow. In it was a check for the German rights to one of my books, in the amount of $5,909. Not quite $6000, but close enough. I dug further into my mail and what should I discover but another royalty check for $400 for an e-course I'd done last year! Aaaahhhhh. Thank you, Universe.
