Lars and the Real Girl
Lars and the Real Girl
I saw the movie last night. Lars and the Real Girl. I loved it, and I'm still thinking about it today. I see it as a story that celebrates the immense power of 'going with' rather than 'going against.'
Instead of trying to convince Lars that he is ill and delusional, his family and community rally with love and allowing. The result is that Lars completes what he needs to AND (perhaps even more importantly) everyone involved learns, takes risks, lets go, and opens to more love.
This is my dream for parents and teachers. Learn how to move WITH what is occuring. It may seem scary, wierd, or impossible, but it is the only way to live fully and vitally. Let your children teach and carry you to new depths of joy, love, brilliance, and creativity.
They'll thrive, but ultimately you'll be the one who really benefits.
Try it, and let me know what you think.
Love to you brave soul.
"If children grew up according to early indications, we should have nothing but geniuses." -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
