Hugging Teachers
Hugging Teachers
My daughter attends a school where hugging is allowed. In fact, it is promoted as a welcome, healthy, and loving way to connect with children. The weird thing is, this is unusual. As a former teacher, I remember the warnings about touching children (basically, don't do it, ever -- better 'safe' than sorry).
I dropped Jaden off at school a couple of days ago and she cried. Her teacher came outside in the pouring rain, bundled her up, and took her into the classroom and made her a special cup of tea.
Her afternoon teacher rubs the children's feet while they are having quiet time. Jaden loves her teachers. They love her. What could be more real in education than that?
Can you imagine being a teacher, loving your children, and never being able to tell them or show them? Can you imagine being a child and loving your teacher, but not being allowed to tell them or show them?
I feel so blessed and happy every time I think about my little girl being in a school where she is hugged, loved, and knows how to connect with people.
One of my big dreams is to bring love back to school. What do you think?
