When I'm flowing, everyone around me flows

This is critical to know, and such a gift as well.  When I am flowing my feelings, everyone around me benefits and gets to flow their feelings as well.

For example, when my daughter is angry and yelling, hitting, or generally grumping around, I focus on flowing my own feelings NOT HERS.  I have a variety of tools to do this, but in the interest of simplicity, I'll focus on my favorite:  BREATHING.

So if she is angry, I'll check my breathing and consciously pay attention to my inhalations and exhalations.  If my breathing is shallow (which it often is at first) I let that be ok.  I don't even try to 'fix it' right away.  I just notice.  I watch myself breathe. 

In and out.  In and out.  In and out.  Nothing to do in this moment but breathe.

Next time you are in the presence of someone's big feelings, tune into your breath.
