Christmas Joy

I'm at my in-laws right now.  Every year I find more ways to nuture myself and enjoy my holidays here.  This year has been the best yet.

What am I doing?

Well, today I stayed home from the wintery adventures of toboganning and playing in the snow with the children and I'm listening to beautiful carols that nurture my soul, catching up on some emails, talking to great friends on the phone and posting here.

I used to run this story that: "when I'm at my in-laws, I must do things with the whole family all the time since our visit is short.  That is what a 'good' guest does." 

What a story.  I'm definitely an introverted person in regular circumstances, and when I'm mixed in the craziness of a family I didn't even grow up in, I want to retreat even more. I used to override this for the sake 'of my daughter/partner...".

Not this year!  This is year I'm loving my quiet alone time and realizing that the happier I feel, the more able I am to interact when my extended family.

I'm wishing for you a fabulous holiday season.  Remember that you are number one.  Nurture you and celebrate the way you want to.
